Anantnag, Dec 10 (KNO): The Ayushman Bharat Golden Card issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Health Department under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) SEHAT provided respite to a 70-year-old man after his tumour was removed by the doctors in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. A health official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an elderly patient from Lower Munda area of Anantnag slept on his back after a long period of 16 years. He said the man having a slow growing tumour in his lower back, which grew to enormous size of a soccer ball (24 cm/20cm/16cm) was actually not allowing him to lie on his back. He said the patient was operated at Al-Hayaat hospital Anantnag under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) SEHAT scheme and his surgery was conducted by a team of doctors led by Dr Malik Azad along with Anesthesia team headed by Dr Sajad Ahmad. Speaking to KNO, the patient Ghulam Mohammad Ganie said the tumor on his back side was not big in size in the early stage, but the size increased with the passage of time. “After 16 years, I am able to sleep on my back side now. It was possible only because of doctors and the government Scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) SEHAT,” he said. Dr Malik Azad said the patient was examined at the hospital and it was around 3.5 kg mass/ball type on his back side. “The patient has not been able to sleep for many years, '' he said, adding that finally we have done his surgery now and the patient is stable. People should not hide their health issues and should come forward to save their lives,” added Dr Malik.
